It mighta worked in the 80's with 'Shogun', but pissing on people doesn't attract the crowds anymore..

<<<<<<<<<<<<&l t;<<<<<<<>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>> ******************SPOILERS********************
Most of the people I've talked to about the Village seem disapointed that the movie doesn't head in the direction that the trailer points you in, which is horror/thriller territory; a tense movie in which you are waiting for the showdown between the people and these mysterious forrest monsters; which never happens.
I thought the film was OK, but he set himself up for a fall by appealing to horror fans with the trailer, and not really delivering on that level. It's not so much a bad film, just not what you're expecting. The twist at the end was OK, but I didn't really care by that point!
Plus I agree, it drags terribly mid-way through.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*
I really enjoyed the first half of this movie. I'm not a big horror fan, but i like tension in films. I thought the twists were terrible though, once you take away the threat posed by the monsters, you're left with a bog standard, quest for the magic elixer to save injured loved one story. The end was a total cop out, and nothing in the second half of the movie rang true for me.
Strangely, I've never seen any of his other movies. It smacked of twists for twists sake though and I hate that kind of thing.

<<<<<<<<<<<<&l t;<<<<<<<<<<SPOILER S STILL!!!!>>>>>>>>>>& gt;>>>>>>>>>>>> ;>>>>>>>>>>>>& gt;>>>>>
I think they didn't need to tell us that the monsters were created by the humans until right near the end, would have made better watching... even though when I saw the creature in the woods I thought it was real at first!
